Where?

We are going to be undertaking the survey in three key areas, the Hayling Island side entrance to the harbour, East Head/West Wittering entrance and the area around Ella Nore Spit.  There are 20 survey sectors in total.

Meeting Place?

Hayling Island volunteers need to meet at the Hayling Island Sailing Club.  Volunteers for the east side of the harbour entrance should meet at the East Head car park  Access is through the West Witterings Estate car park entrance and they have very kindly agreed to waive parking charges for volunteers on the day.

Timings

High tide at Chichester Harbour entrance on the day will be at 9.47 am.  You are requested to arrive at 9.30 am at the meeting point in order that we can issue you with equipment and give you a briefing on site.  It will also enable some of you to get to the slightly more remote locations at Ella Nore.  The first strandline will be surveyed at around 10.30 am so everyone should be finished by 2.30 pm. For Portsmouth University students there will be a coach and details will be published shortly.

Equipment

You will be provided with all of the survey equipment you need on the day.  You can see what this is in the video.  However, you should wear some wellies, warm clothing and make sure you bring some waterproofs and some lunch /flask of hot drink.
