While we were planning our second citizen science microplastic survey at East Head I had an email from one of the teachers at Prebendal School in Chichester. She wanted to know if the children could be involved. “How old,” I asked to be told “between 3-4.” “OF COURSE” was my reply.
So once we had set al the other volunteers off on their way we ran a short lesson about microplastics and plastic pollution, showed them how to do a survey and sent them on their way. Simply amazing to watch the interest and enthusiasm. We can solve this problem.
How do we make a change in coastal regions of Pakistan where raw sewage and plastic garbage are being dumped into the Arabian Sea? Is there anything schoolchildren can do?
